Water Detox
Cleansing Toxins from our Body

Water detox is not about fasting only with water. Instead we should understand why drinking water is important besides sustaining our life. Without food we can survive beyond a month, but if without water we would not even last beyond three days.

Our basic requirement per day is to drink at least 8-ounce glasses of water. Are you drinking that amount? I guess most us would say no. Our most common beverage nowadays is coffee, tea, soft drinks, and some alcohol. All are never providing our body with the essential living force. Instead coffee, tea, and alcohol are diuretics that drains fluid from our body.

Lacking the full amount of water per day actually sets our body into a status of dehydration. Chronic dehydration can put our body in a very serious situation. Some common symptoms are constant headache, fatigue, and sore neck.

In Chinese traditional medicine, it is believed that your body is in “heat” when there is a lack of water in your body. You will experience cases of developing ulcers or even biting yourself while eating.

One researcher, Dr. Batmanghelidj, has been researching about the detrimental effects of dehydration on the molecular level for the last 20 years. In his many research there have been connections between dehydration with arthritis, back pain, high blood pressure, migraines, colitis, asthma, and heartburn.

He states that “It is water that energizes and activates the solid matter. If you don’t take enough water, some functions of the body will suffer.”

Therefore, the actual process of water detox is consuming enough water a day to achieve these following important functions in our body.

  • Dilute toxins and waste products for their drainage from our body system

  • Regulate and maintain our body temperature

  • Maintaining good joints by lubricating it with water-based solutions

  • Transportation of nutrients, hormones, and chemical substances throughout our tissues and body system

  • Helps to clear excessive fats from our bloodstreams

  • Provide our brains with necessary fluids for protection (85% of our brain is covered with water)

  • Covers our spinal cord with fluid to protect it from strong impacts

There are always people who complain about the increased frequency of going to the toilet with higher consumption of water. This is an uncalled for excuse not to drink water if we can truly appreciate how our body needs pure clean water for detoxification as well as protection and maintaining stable bodily functions.

Once you have tried water detox by consuming enough water a day for several months, you will feel extremely different when you drink lesser amounts of water for a few days. The feeling of dehydration is more sensitive and you will naturally seek for water.
