Precautions of Juice Fasting
Things to Note Before Starting

There are some important precautions of juice fasting before embarking on it. We have to take note of not getting addicted or assuming that doing more fasting is good. This is a totally wrong knowledge.

When we overdo it with fasting (in any form including juice fasting), the impact on our body is negative because we keep depleting it with the required nourishment for optimal function.

This can set our body into a situation of weakness and increase the susceptibility to possible infections. It should be reminded that fasting should be performed in short frequencies of 5 – 10 days and intervals of at least 3 months.

Some groups of individuals are definitely unsuitable for juice fasting:

  • Malnourished and underweight
  • Pregnant or lactating mothers
  • Advanced cancer patients (better to consult medical practitioners on fasting)
  • Poor immunity individuals
  • Individuals who just underwent surgery
  • Stomach ulcer
  • Low blood pressure
  • Excessive fatigue
  • Children

Other precautions of juice fasting are the side effects individuals might experience. The initial stage would be a feeling of weakness due to the lack of the simple carbohydrates we are so used to raising our blood sugar. Some individuals undergoing water fasting or lemonade fasting might suffer from a drop in their blood pressure due to their lack of necessary minerals like potassium or phosphorus. But juice fasting minimizes such effect because it is still able to provide necessary amounts of nutrients and minerals.

Though there are some warnings in attempting juice fasting, it is generally a better form of detox program than simply relying on water fasting or other forms of pure fasting. We just need to take note of certain categories of individuals not to try it without firstly consulting a health professional. You can also try going to certain medical professionals specializing in fasting programs.
