Alcohol detox is an important process for anyone thinking of coping with their alcohol withdrawal therapy or recovery. There would be necessary changes to your dietary habits as well as the inclusion of nutritional supplements to manage this detoxification program effectively.

The dietary habit should be focused on juice cleanse and consumption of alkaline food. There is a high tendency that during alcohol detoxification people will lose their appetite and anything fluid would be an easy option than solid food and it also helps to clear alcohol more effectively from our body.

The detox process requires a few weeks after withdrawal. It is important to have the alcohol eliminated including its by-products and other toxins involved that are stored within your the fats to breakdown. Follow these few criteria during the cleansing:

  • Maintain a low-fat diet like fish or chicken soup.

  • Maintain light to moderate protein consumption like soy products, sprouted beans, nuts, seeds, eggs, or fish.

  • Have complex carbohydrate within your diet. Example, whole grains, pasta, squashes, legumes, and other vegetables.

  • Keep your diet alkaline through eating mainly vegetables and fruits.

  • Avoid all sweet, high sugar content, refine food products like candy and soft drinks.

  • Don't eat any fast food or junk food like burgers, hot dogs, chips, or any deep fried food which are very high in acidity. The focus is to maintain an alkaline diet.

  • Have small meals in short intervals (few hours) to maintain a stable blood sugar level.

  • Stop and control your caffeine consumption and cigarette smoking.

  • Drink at least 8 - 10 eight-ounce glasses of water daily.

The reason for avoiding fast food, junk food, and fried food is because they are rancid or hydrogenated fats. These are higher in acidity and they can be hard on the liver.
